TaskForce Murders Couple leaving Children Orphans

An incident has caused a riot to occur between Okporo village, Orlu and Akatta, Oru-East both in Imo State.
A fight between the village taskforce and the Orie-Okporo Marketers has lead to the death of
a couple leaving their children orphans.

The fight which occurred on the 11th of August 2020 has caused an uproar between the citizens of Okporo and Akatta, villages.


Earlier, there have been an instruction for all traders who sell their goods on the sidewalk to relocate into the market.

The deceased was said to have been attacked with a hammer by a taskforce member after he refused to adhere to the instruction given by the taskforce.
The deceased who is from Akatta was said to have refused to move his goods from the sidewalk into the market. His wife who interfered was struck by a machete to her head. The couple were rushed to the St. Damain Hospital Okporo where they were confirmed dead.


This incident has made the citizens of Akatta angry which has resulted into burning down the houses of the citizens of Okporo.
