Recently, Gunmen attacked Atyap villages in Zangon Kataf L.G.A of Kaduna State killing thirty three persons mostly children and woken.
The attack which took place around the late hour of 11pm of Wednesday and early hour
of 1am of Thursday in Atak'mawai, Kibori, Kurmin Masara and Apyiashyim villages of Atyap.
A villager from Apiojyim in Kibori, Jonathan Ishaya who is also the Youth leader of Apiojyim said only seven villagers were killed and most of the village burnt out.
According to his story, the attackers encroached the village around 11pm on Wednesday heavily armed shooting irregularly. He said he and his patrol members were the first to be attacked around 11pm as they were patrolling the village, "their intention was to take us unaware but when they came, they saw our youths patrolling and started exchanging fire", he says.
He also said they spent an hour defending the community before the attackers withdrew.
Another witness from the village of Atak'mawai (Kurmin Masara) village in Zaman Dabo ward named Irimiya Gandi confirmed the attack on Thursday saying not more than 12 persons were killed but many houses was burnt in his community. He further narrated that the gunmen attacked the area around 1am when most villagers were asleep.
"I went into my house,brought out my family members and ran to a safe place when I heard the gunshots" he says.
The National Spokesperson for Southern Kaduna People Union (SOKAPU),Luka Biniyat signed a press statement saying that 33 persons of Atyap extraction were killed and five villages was attacked which include: Apiojyim, Kibori, Apiako, Atakmawe and Magamiya.
They plead with international bodies and individuals to come to their aid.
